Palestine is a territory in the Mediterranean that has since 1945 been divided into two areas: the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Land not within these areas has been annexed to form Israel.
Palestine occupies an area of just 6,217 sq. km. The Gaza Strip is home to a population of 1.4 million Palestinians and the West Bank home to 2.8 million people.
