Elderly Persons Sponsorship
Imagine for a moment what it must be like to be old, alone and living in abject poverty. For most of us even the thought is enough to cause fear. Yet, for the poor and elderly in developing countries this fear all too often becomes a reality.
There is a common misconception that problems with elderly care do not arise in developing countries due to strong family bonds and values. Whilst there was once a time when this was true, the pace of life and various other factors means it is no longer the case. Moreover, most developing countries do not provide even a basic social security safety net to cover the simplest of needs such as food and accommodation.
Helping the Silent Sufferers
MH has launched the Help the Elderly Scheme to care for elderly people who are alone. More specifically, through the sponsorship of an elderly person you can ensure they receive a regular monthly income. The scheme operates in various countries including Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Albania, Iraq, Senegal and The Gambia.
Beneficiaries are chosen by our field offices who assess need and those who are alone, without any immediate family and without permanent residence, and thus most vulnerable, are given priority.
To oversee the sponsorship and ensure that the elderly person is clothed, fed and sheltered properly, as well as to highlight any other needs that are present, a local aid worker is assigned and will maintain regular contact.

- Emergency Relief
The world we live in is full of inequality. When conflict or natural disasters occur, countries that are not economically developed are usually unable to cope with and recover from destruction.
