Dawah Project
The Introduction of Islam to the Chiapas Community
The Dawah Foundation in Mexico has been a means to restore dignity and self-respect to these people, providing them with new hope and inspiration for the future.
Muslim Hands is helping fund a dawah program based around a school in Chiapas. 50 children aged between 5 and 14 years attend classes from 9am till asr.
A cooked lunch is provided daily. Qur'an, Arabic language, Islamic studies, mathematics and general studies are taught every morning to the children and to adults in the afternoons.
A testimony to the success of the dawah and education program is the presence of Ibraheem, a 17 year old indigenous Indian who has been Muslim for 3 years. He reads and writes Arabic and has memorised the last juz of the Qur'an. He now helps teachers at the school.
There is little or no education for many of the children of Chiapas most of whom can be seen walking bare foot in the streets. Most families still live without electricity and running water, and the whole family lives and sleep in one room.
- Emergency Relief
The world we live in is full of inequality. When conflict or natural disasters occur, countries that are not economically developed are usually unable to cope with and recover from destruction.
