Muslim Hands tube well
Tube-wells last over a decade, and ground wells can last for generations - serving countless thousands of people with fresh, clean drinking water
One of the most pressing challenges facing the world today is access to clean drinking water.
Over a billion people are each day forced to drink dirty water and to put themselves at the risk of contracting a multitude of life threatening illnesses.Poor health due to unclean water prevents many from being able to work, attend school or work their way out of the cycle of poverty.
MH has in recent years increasingly focused on larger community water schemes. From large underground water storage systems in Sudan to sophisticated water pumping systems in Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine, each scheme serves thousands of people.
MH has installed over 10,400 Tube-wells to date, and in the last 3 years alone, has completed 790 water wells.A single tube well will serve 2-3 families with water to drink, wash and cook for at least 10 years. Tube wells are manually operated and lift filtered water up to about 100 feet beneath the ground with minimal maintenance. We have tube wells projects running throughout Pakistan, Nepal, India, Bangladesh and Kashmir.
Ground Water Wells
Often, ground wells are used to draw water from greater depths than tube-wells can reach. They are invaluable resources for communities who depend on agriculture and farming. Each well serves over 300 families and their livestock. Many have been built in Palestine, Lebanon, Sudan, Senegal and The Gambia
Our dig-a-well programme serves large groups of people, from schools to masjids. These are bigger installations where 25-30 families can benefit from a single well. With projects currently running in Niger, Sudan, Afghanistan and Kashmir, dig-a-well is providing many communities with fresh, clean water.

Help MH provide opportunity - the opportunity to work, the opportunity to provide for their families, the opportunity to give their children the chance of a brighter future. MH Income Generation Schemes have two main approaches:
1. Provide job-skills training to individuals.Helping young people to gain recognised qualifications and skills as electricians, plumbers, IT workers etc.
2. Supply small grants or interest-free loans in the form of money, tools or livestock etc. Enable individuals or groups to become self-sufficient. Examples in recent years include poultry and sheep farms, handicraft shops, honey production and snack shops. Local MH staff also provide support to ensure the ventures become stable and profitable. How you can help:
