An MH team prepares a large water tank for use by earthquake survivors in the MH Bantul relief camp.
The earthquake which struck on May 27th and measured 6.2 on the Richter scale has now caused a confirmed death toll of over 5,500. Hospitals are struggling to cope with the many thousands injured and our staff on the ground report that tens of thousands of buildings have been damaged or destroyed. MH Teams are currently operating in earthquake-affected regions operating camps and distributing aid. Please support this lifesaving work.
Teams, led by Taofiq Hidayat, from Jakarta, Aceh and Medan are currently operating in the worst-hit areas of Yogyakarta and Bantul. Images of the work MH is carrying out can be found below. Further updates will be posted here shortly.
The following pictures were taken by MH relief workers on the ground in affected areas and show the extent of devestation and the task that lies ahead. Staff are working around the clock to care for those who have lost everything.
